La Maison des Etats-Unis est l’association officielle des jumelages de Nantes avec les villes américaines : Seattle (état de Washington) et Jacksonville (état de Floride). A ce titre, elle établit des liens entre Nantes et ses villes jumelles américaines, ainsi qu’avec d’autres villes partenaires aux Etats-Unis, en organisant de nombreux échanges et manifestations.
L’association a un rôle de coordinateur et d’intermédiaire entre tous les acteurs des relations internationales, elle partage ses activités entre :
- Une mission d’accueil et de rencontre auprès des étudiants et visiteurs américains de passage à Nantes et désireux de connaître la ville de Nantes et son mode de vie.
- Organisation de fêtes calendaires américaines (Thanksgiving, 4 juillet, potlucks, concerts…).
- La participation à toutes manifestations susceptibles de renforcer les relations entre les trois villes liées par le jumelage, Seattle, Jacksonville et Nantes, mais aussi toute ville américaine qui le souhaiterait.
Les Objectifs
- Associer le Corps Consulaire dans la dynamique internationale de la ville de Nantes.
- Faire découvrir les échanges vivants, bouillonnants et surprenants entre Nantes et les États-Unis.
- Stimuler la place et l’attractivité de la métropole Nantaise sur la scène internationale grâce aux échanges économiques (domaine viticole, port autonome… ).
- Permettre au public de s’approprier et d’appréhender les relations internationales entre Nantes et ses villes partenaires grâce à une interaction réussie avec les instances de démocratie participative en faveur des 16/25 ans.
- Fédérer la communauté américaine du Grand Ouest (10 000 américains).
- Développer des liens avec la communauté afro-américaine.
- Développer des partenariats avec de nouvelles villes : Oakland, San Francisco, Athens, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Portland…
Who are we?
The Maison des Etats-Unis is the twinning committee of Nantes with the American cities of Seattle (Washington State) and Jacksonville (Florida State). As such, it establishes links between Nantes and its American twin cities, as well as with other partner cities in the United States, by organizing numerous exchanges and events promoting American culture and language.
The association has a role of coordinator and intermediary between all the actors of the international relations, it shares its activities between :
– A mission of welcoming and meeting American students and visitors passing through Nantes and wishing to know the city of Nantes and its way of life.
– Organization of American calendar celebrations (Thanksgiving, 4th of July, potlucks, concerts…).
– Participating in all events likely to strengthen the relationship between the three cities linked by the twinning, Seattle, Jacksonville and Nantes, but also any American city that wishes to do so.
Objectives
– Involve the Consular Corps in the international dynamics of the city of Nantes.
– Discover the lively, vibrant and surprising exchanges between Nantes and the United States.
– Stimulate the place and attractiveness of the Nantes metropolis on the international scene thanks to economic exchanges (wine industry, autonomous port…).
– To allow the public to understand and appropriate the international relations between Nantes and its partner cities through a successful interaction with the participatory democracy bodies in favor of 16/25 year olds.
– Federating the American community of the Greater West (10,000 Americans).
– Develop links with the African-American community.
– Partnerships with new cities: Oakland, San Francisco, Athens, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Portland…
